Langston University is the only historically black college or university (HBCU) in the state of Oklahoma. In 1897, our institution opened its door with 41 students on a single campus; today our community of approximately 3,000 students on three unique campuses provides a robust education that prepares students for leadership in the career of their choosing.

History

Founded in 1897, Langston University is comprised of three campuses located in Langston, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa. The Langston campus offers programs such as biology, chemistry, nursing, urban education, international studies, goat research, physical therapy (a doctoral program) and biotechnology.

Education

Studies are divided into six colleges: Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education and Behavioral Sciences, Nursing and Health Professions, and Physical Therapy. Summer programs and graduate education are also available.

Research

The University has research capabilities in several distinct areas within the biological and zoological sciences with the Science Research Institute, E. Kika de la Garza American Institute for Goat Research, Aquaculture Pond Research, Super-computing, Informatics research, human performance research, and health and wellness research. Langston University has the capabilities for conducting disability, rehabilitation, and health research and training early career minority investigators in the field of disability rehabilitation research.

Career

The Office of Career Services dedicates its time to educating, advising, and connecting our students to undergraduate and post-graduation career and professional development experiences. Our office is here to assist current and former students as they identify, explore, select and enter into career programs, experiential learning opportunities, and full-time employment. In addition to providing individualized counseling, the Office of Career Services also organizes campus-wide recruitment events, career development seminars, and professional development workshops.
