As an independent institution in the Catholic tradition of American higher education, St. John Fisher College emphasizes the liberal arts, offering programs in traditional academic disciplines as well as more directly career-oriented fields.

History

  • The seeds of what would become St. John Fisher College started growing in the hearts and minds of two great men.
  • Fundraising for the new college began in 1947, as did the search for a site on which to build it.  In 1951, the young men in the Pioneer Class of 1955 began attending classes.

Education

  • The College is composed of five schools: the School of Arts and Sciences; the School of Business; the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education; the Wegmans School of Nursing; and the Wegmans School of Pharmacy. Each school is accredited by regional, national, and/or international accrediting bodies.
  • Fisher offers undergraduate majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing, as well as several pre-professional programs. The College also offers a variety of master's and doctoral programs; a fully online program and several online courses are part of the curriculum mix as well.

Research

  • The Center for Student Research & Creative Work supports students and mentors across the disciplines as they engage in the processes of creative inquiry, dissemination of their work, and self-development.
  • The Center serves both students and mentors in a variety of ways that will support their scholarly endeavors. Summer research, travel support, presentation opportunities, and mentor development are some examples.

Career

The Center for Career and Academic Planning offers an integrated approach to student success at St. John Fisher College. Our advisors will help you to excel academically, explore careers and industries, develop professional skills and experiences, and finish your degree on time.
