Houston Baptist College was created by action of the Baptist General Convention of Texas on November 15, 1960 culminating many years of work and study. The aim of the College founders was the establishment of a Christian College of the highest order in the city of Houston that stressed quality of life as well as quality of learning.

The Gideon Counseling Center at HCU will foster Christ-centered, biblically rooted, clinically competent soul care.
HCU houses over 900 residential students within these five dormitory areas. Students who live on HCU’s campus not only have a quick commute to class, but can also utilize other residential facilities such as the Husky Village pool and a barbecue and picnic area.
Moody Library is an ideal spot for students, faculty and staff to research and study. The newly renovated learning commons provide ample space for students to study in groups or individually, with access to a wealth of print and online references.
Student health insurance is not offered through HCU. Students wishing to purchase student heath insurance must enroll directly with the insurance provider of their choice.
With a 158-acre campus in southwest Houston, the fourth largest city in the nation, HCU is the perfect location to start the rest of your life. And with HCU’s ever-increasing prominence in the educational community, our campus is ever developing and expanding to fit the needs of our faculty and students.
HCU’s Bradshaw Fitness Center is an 80,000-square-foot recreational center featuring an indoor lap pool, sauna, and steam room, as well as a full-sized gymnasium, cardiovascular and free-weight equipment, and an indoor walking track. The Bradshaw Fitness Center is open to both students and the local community and houses HCU’s Campus Recreation team, Crossfit Altus, and the HCU Police Department.
HCU provides great opportunities to develop beyond the classroom. You can grow in your career with our professional student organizations and then head to an athletic event with members your sorority or fraternity. There are many ways to get involved!

HCC is a great school to start your college experience, especially if you�re on a budget. They make setting up financial aid easy. All of the student advisors are knowledgeable and nice. I�m a veteran that�s graduating soon and they have a great VA center that helps with my school funding as well as veteran needs. I 100% recommend this school to anyone who is looking to further their education.
The academic programs are robust, with a wide variety of majors and minors. The faculty are knowledgeable and approachable, often going above and beyond to support students. I appreciate the emphasis on research opportunities, especially in the sciences. The workload can be intense, but it prepares us well for the real world.
I really felt at home and at ease when completing my course area. The staff were able to help me whenever I needed assistance and would email me whenever I had issues or concerns about certain assignments. The dorm rooms were clean and were comfortable and the parking spaces were all around. Overall my experience with this college was immaculate and I would recommend this college to anyone!
