Carroll University, often called Wisconsin's pioneer college, is the first four-year institution of higher education in the state. We trace our history all the way back to the founding of Prairieville Academy in 1841. The university was chartered by the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature on January 31, 1846—two years before Wisconsin became a state.

On-campus living is part of the Pioneer journey—it’s where you’ll make friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. Staying up late, talking, studying and laughing. From traditional residence halls to suite-style units and apartments, Carroll has the perfect place for you to call home. All full-time students are required to live on campus until attaining senior status, with limited exceptions.
The Todd Wehr Memorial Library offers a bundle of integrated services aimed at student academic success. These services range from our collection of books and e-books tailored to the Carroll curriculum to online databases that allow Carroll’s students access to more than 100,000 journals from anywhere with an Internet connection.
Carroll’s Student Health Services offers convenient, affordable and professional health care right on campus. Our Wright Street office is staffed by board-certified nurse practitioners and a certified medical assistant. Our goal is to educate and involve students in making informed decisions that lead to healthy outcomes.

Carroll is home to 22 NCAA Division III athletic teams and competes in the nationally-recognized College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). Go Pios!
