In 1910, the school relocated to Main Street and in 1916 became St. Teresa’s College, a two-year college for women. The school’s faculty of 15 sisters initially outnumbered the students. Five years later, in 1921, the University of Missouri accredited St. Teresa College. In 1930, the school became affiliated with St. Joseph Hospital’s School of Nursing, a professional emphasis that continues.

Avila has four residence halls - all with different attitude - to help you settle in near class and take advantage of all that the campus has to offer.
Avila Health Services are available to all students, faculty, and staff of Avila University. The center is funded by the university operating budget and services are available free of charge.
Our campus is nestled on 50 acres off Wornall Road and Interstate 435 in a suburban setting, just minutes from Kansas City’s rejuvenated downtown.

The way the program is conducted is actually good
it is a nice experience. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to study here. The nightlife is great, lots of internationals, very fun and laid back. I met amazing people and Romania is so beautiful! I will do it all over again. Like in any institution, there are highs and lows, but the vibe was there. Very cheap to live here, Romanian food is great, Romanian people are very nice and friendly
I could consider my study experience as satisfying as I not only learned the theoretical topics of my career, but I also learned how to face difficult situations not only in the professional field, but in my personal life as well. Hence that, I am a very practical person that rather look out for a solution instead of being focused on the main problem.
