Student services

Our ISSE office serves as a single point of contact, guiding you every step of the way - through the admission process, to your arrival on campus and throughout your four years at Point Park.

Housing services

Because students' needs vary, accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis. After documentation is evaluated by the coordinator of disability services, students will be notified as to whether or not it has met the established guidelines and verifies that there is a functional limitation.

ICT services

The Technology Help Desk staff members are available to assist the University community with any issues involving the technology resources available at Point Park University. They are the primary point of contact for all issues involving Information Technology Services.

Medical services

For care involving the treatment of minor illnesses and injuries, the University maintains the Student Health Center and the University Counseling Center on campus. However, we realize that more serious medical situations may require care beyond the capabilities of on-campus health services - costly care such as emergency department visits, surgery, hospital stays and therapy visits.

Campus life

Whether this is your first time away from home or you've always been an independent, free spirit, we provide safe, comfortable, amenity-rich living options on our unique urban campus.

Sports facilities

The Student Center is committed to providing the finest programs, services and equipment in order to enrich the University's recreational activities for students, staff and alumni. The Student Center offers a variety of facilities and spaces, including:

  • Recreational and lounge spaces with billiards, ping pong tables and board games.
  • Fitness Center with elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bikes, indoor track and weight lifting equipment.
  • Meeting space (booked through Conference and Event Services)
  • The Bike Program is a free program that allows students and members to check out bikes for use during posted hours.

Accreditation

Point Park University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

Welcoming environment

This school's faculty and students are very invested in their time here. Both the professors and the students want to learn. This school's majority of professors have real-world experience and knowledge, which is a huge advantage and greatly valued. Prior to attending Point Park, I attended two other schools, but none compare to this one. It is by far the most welcoming learning environment I have ever experienced.

The Duality Between Growth and Burnout

As a Dance Major, I have benefited greatly from the program. We get professional experiences from the residencies that are commissioned and from the quality faculty. However, there are some factors that I feel are neglected. For instance, the experiences of the POC on campus, the lack of diversity, community within the classroom, and something dance specific is the rigor that the student must go through to maintain their scholarship. Sometimes, with respect to the COPA department, it's almost like the students don't get the time to enjoy everything college has to offer. This can sometimes lead to burnout, physically and emotionally. Dance is an incredibly demanding sport, and it needs balance to maintain the body as well as one's self.

Acceptance

The environment is nice, This results in an atmosphere of openness and acceptance that allows students to explore new perspectives and deepen their understanding of the world around them. The university's focus on creating a welcoming environment for all students is truly commendable.
