History

AUC was founded in 1978 upon a belief in the need for visionary, skilled, compassionate doctors. The university was originally chartered by the Government of Montserrat in the British West Indies. In 1995, however, AUC relocated to the island of St. Maarten after Montserrat’s Soufrière Hills Volcano erupted and left much of the island buried or uninhabitable.
