History

Ajman University was established in 1988 as the first private university in the GCC, and also the first university in the UAE to admit expatriate students. Our institution continues to be a pioneer for inclusion, innovation, and social impact. AU is globally accredited at the institution-level by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of the United Kingdom.

Education

AU has academic partnerships with leading global universities, offering students an opportunity to study part of their course abroad and experience the best of both worlds. We also offer 3+2 pathways to master’s degrees abroad with leading universities in the USA and UK. With its 9 colleges, 22 undergraduate and 13 graduate degree programs, including 2 doctorate degrees, AU caters to more than 5,500 students each year and has created an impressive network of more than 37,000 alumni since inception, who live and work in various parts of the world. In addition to academic rigor, practical hands-on training, skills-based education and focus on employability.

Research

Ajman university encourages and fosters scientific collaboration in research. AU provides financial support to its faculty members by funding research grants to conduct their research either on an individual basis or by forming international research teams. AU has launched six Research Centers to focus resources and the efforts of researchers in developing key research areas of national and international importance. AU has developed an ‘Open Access Article Processing Charge policy', to facilitate the publishing of high-quality research articles by AU researchers and their outside collaborators in open access journals.

Career

Office of Career services endeavors to serve AU students and alumni by educating them to successfully identify, plan and pursue their career goals. The center supports the mission of the university in its three dimensions - education, information and investment - by providing quality services which will enhance clients’ employment potential, and by liaising with prospective employers.

The Deanship of Student Services (DSS) is a student-centered and key component of Ajman University. It seeks to enhance students’ capabilities by building an inclusive, diverse, and safe environment that transforms students to lifelong learners capable of overcoming market challenges and becoming market pioneers.

    Medical office is staffed with qualified Doctors and Allied MOH licensed Staff, and is dedicated to providing educational, supportive, consultative healthcare services to students, staff and eligible dependents. In doing so, the OMS strive to make the campus a healthy and safe place to study, work and live.

    Campus life

    AU located in the city of Ajman which is ranked 61st among the world’s top 100 destinations for students, thanks to its beautiful seaside setting and proximity to Dubai. The Emirate of Ajman, the smallest of the seven in the UAE, is only 30 minutes from the Dubai International Airport. The university’s buildings are located in one area but, separated within walking distance.

    Sports facilities

    Ajman University boasts a modern sports complex which includes an indoor 25-meter swimming pool, a multi-sports hall, two fitness centers and locker rooms, as well as billiard, table-tennis, and chess areas. The sports complex also includes outdoor playing fields for volleyball, basketball, and football. All sports activities have professional trainers to foster skills and safety; the swimming pool is monitored by lifeguards at all times.
