Student services

  • The Office of Students Services (OSS) supports TUJ's diverse student population as they become members of the university community. In addition to providing assistance with the visa application process and coordinating Financial Aid/GI Bill-related matters and housing, the OSS provides orientations to help students adapt to the academic and social life at TUJ.
  • The OSS also works with the Student Government and other student organizations to encourage social interaction among students with different backgrounds by creating events and activities that appeal to all TUJ students.

Housing services

TUJ uses a dorm facility in the Tokyo area and has two live-in resident assistants to support TUJ students. In accordance with Temple University policies, all TUJ facilities including the dorms and homestays are no-smoking and no-alcohol. A dorm manual with explanations on other rules and policies is distributed at the mandatory dorm orientation held during TUJ's new student orientation week.

Library services

The TUJ library, which focuses on English-language publications, holds over 60,000 books and more than 3,300 DVD titles. TUJ has opened the collection to teachers at Minato elementary and junior high schools, as well as to Minato residents through local libraries.

ICT services

TUJ has six computer labs equipped with Windows, Mac and Unix computers with a variety of office and design software applications. Campus-wide wireless network is available. The office also provides computer related support to students, staff and faculty.

Medical services

  • TUJ covers disaster preparation at orientation for all new students. Each floor of TUJ has assigned to it floor safety officers responsible for coordinating evacuation efforts from the building.
  • TUJ also has a limited supply of water and food in the event of a major disaster where public transportation has halted and students are stranded at TUJ overnight.

Campus life

Small classes of around 19 students each encourage student participation and allow faculty to provide individualized attention. Internships and independent research provide plenty of hands-on experience. Outside of class, students enjoy the best of Tokyo and Japan through excursions, workshops, campus events and student club activities. Campus facilities include computer labs, an academic advising center, library, counseling office, editing room and tutoring center.

Student clubs

Student organizations—created and run by students—are overseen by Student Activities which is housed within the Office of Student Services (OSS). These organizations help students identify others with similar interests, as well as promote affinity towards other students while enhancing their TUJ experience

my life as a student studying in Japan

my study experience have been good so far, im a freshman and university is a bit different from high school . I have to balance school, work and other activities in my life. At first i was it was overwhelming because i did not know how to balance my time , i had lots of homework and barely had time to do extra studies and then i had my job and having just 2 to 3 hours of sleep a day was furstrating ,but i somehow managed it. i feel like if i plan a specific study schedule and keep to it , i would have done better in my first semester .

Great Learning Experience

Studying at Telkom University has been a fun and rewarding experience, especially in my major, Information Systems. The university offers good facilities that support learning and development. The academic environment is supportive and provides great opportunities to grow. However, there are some challenges, particularly regarding campus accessibility. The transportation services could be improved, and the parking area is too small to accommodate students and staff. Despite these issues, I would still recommend the university for its strong academic offerings.

Incredible Place to Find Yourself

Telkom University is undebatable a great place for students to find themselves. It offers many different type of extra activities you can take upon to discover more things outside of your major. Although, that privilege do come at a cost as the tuition might not be extremely accessible to everyone. Me personally, I study management but I explore a lot of things on campus. I did content creation, graphic design, administrative work, I even did robotics and electrical not to mention some software engineering. To have all that opportunity in the same campus to do besides my main major is eye-opening and insightful to help determine my future career path. What I dislike about this university is that it is highly capitalistic with its facility, some essentials are still being locked behind some sort of paywall despite the entry tuition is already high compared to other local universities. While it has lots of scholarship opportunities, some essential facilities still requires you to do additional payment.
