In Aizu, we have a tradition of empowering society through education. Thisspirit has been inherited by the University of Aizu, and has helped develop agreat many talented people, who have acquired concrete knowledge andskills and are able to be active in the world.

History

The University of Aizu was established in 1993 as Japan's first universityspecializing in computer science and engineering, which is a highly promisingdiscipline with wide applications.

Research

To put its founding principle into practice, the University of Aizu recruited faculty from throughout the world. The situation in Japan today is such that both the quality and quantity of computer researchers and engineers are insufficient, and there are only a limited number of people capable of supervising them at the time when the University was established.

The University sought outstanding faculty by reviewing their achievements in their respective fields through detailed examinations, and this resulted in approximately 40% of the faculty being non-Japanese. this level of internationality has become one of the University's most distinctive features.

Career

In terms of employment rate, our graduates are employed at a rate of nearly 100% every year, in spite of continuing economic stagnation. The rate of students who received informal assurance of employment last academic year was 100%. This implies specialists in computer science are needed in all fields of industry, and that our University has maintained a high reputation in society. With regard to job-hunting activities, attentive care regarding career development is offered to students.
