Tshwane University of Technology

History

Our University was formed in 2004 following the merger of three technikons. Our merger aimed at redressing the inequalities of the past by providing access to all our communities and an academic home for all our students.

Education

We adopt a decolonial position as our programmes aim to have a liberating effect by ensuring that our learning becomes a continuum of creation, innovation and technology transfer to serve the aspirations of our communities.

Research

TUT's vision is pioneering an enterprising and transformative brand of the twenty-first century university of technology. In 2014, the University adopted a new strategic plan and the goal for research has shifted from purely focusing on capacity development to one focusing on consolidating the gains achieved through years of capacity building. The new goal reads: “To promote a culture of inquiry and social enterprise through technology-based postgraduate studies, research and innovation in current and emerging niche areas”.
