History
Universiti Malaysia Terengganu began as Universiti Pertanian Malaysia's Centre for Fisheries and Marine Science, located at Mengabang Telipot, Kuala Terengganu. It provided facilities for both students and lecturers from the Fisheries and Marine Science programmes to conduct their practical sessions and also researches.
Education
Eventually, the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia (UPM) in Serdang was transferred to Kuala Terengganu, and the Centre transformed into a branch campus, being renamed Universiti Pertanian Malaysia Terengganu (UPMT) in June 1996. The name of the faculty was also changed to the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology. Also formed were the Faculty of Science and Professional Literature and the Matriculation Centre.

It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.

Availability based on first come first serve basis. Accommodation rates are based on type of room. Application is subject to room availability, terms and conditions applied.STEM Foundation Centre, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) is the first STEM Foundation Centre founded in Malaysia. Endorsed by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia on May 2017, Foundation in STEM programme too has obtained the accreditation from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and started their first semester on June 2018 with 68 students as the first batch.
