The student hostels are located in the Student City, situated at the foothills of Vitosha mountain, 25–30-minute bus-ride from the centre of Sofia.
The Student City has a well-developed infrastructure with various shops, restaurants and snack bars, Internet clubs, sports faci lities, etc. The monthly rent for a room in the hostels depends on the housing standards and is currently set at EUR 30–40.
The library of the Plovdiv Branch of Sofia Technical University, was established in 1986 and it has been developing as an up-to-date information centre. Nowadays, there are over 100,000 library units available.
All students have access to the Sports Complex of the Technical University of Sofia, which comprises an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts, handball grounds, volleyball, basketball, aerobics gym, fitness center and others.
The presence of official recognition, accreditation by a specialized state body is a necessary condition for the legitimacy of every higher school in the country. My experience at the Technical University of Sofia has been positive overall. The program provided solid theoretical knowledge, especially in telecommunications, and I had the chance to develop technical skills relevant to my field. While some courses leaned more towards theory than practical application, there were good opportunities for hands-on projects and internships.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with my university and my professors, they are grat professionals, trying to share their knowledge with us. Also, I am very happy with the people I met here, as many of them turned out to be my friends
This is my second degree and the first degree I have in Bulgaria. So far I have enjoyed the Bulgarian lifestyle, culture, and the opportunities to meet international students. The education system differs from my first degree in England in that you are not spoonfed all of the information but have the responsibility of learning most of the content yourself. The professors are there for you to ask if there is something that you are struggling to understand.
