The University established under the Act of Provincial Assembly of the NWFP (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) on 29 April 1997. The then-Governor, KP took the bold step of establishing Hazara University in 2001 in the old buildings which were vacated from Neuropsychiatry Hospital, Dhodial and Agriculture Department. It was formally inaugurated on 14 April 2002.
The University is operating through well-organized academic structure that consists of four Faculties, 31 Departments and more than 100 academic programmes. The following Faculties have been established to cover all academic activities at the university:
Hazara University is fully aware about the importance of Research at the highereducation institutions. The educational objectives of the university include catering to the needs of large segment of population for higher education and developing as well as sustaining advanced research base, particularly in the disciplines of emerging sciences thereby contributing to the development of human resource to ensure national survival and progress in the contemporary culture of cutthroat competition, posed by globalization.
Career counselling and guidance on job placement to students are essential tasksat the todays’ universities. Therefore, Hazara University has created a full-fledged department known as the Career Counseling and Placement Cell (CCPC) which looks after these matters for students. The Cell works closely with the ORIC at the university to create new avenues for collaboration with the industries and organizations.

The Student Services Center (SSC) has been created to provide one window operation to students for their routine issues which they face.

The entire campus has been computerized under the HEC smart university project where each office and building is equipped with the high-speed Internet facility.
The campus of Hazara University is located 14 kilometers to the north of Mansehra town on the right flank of Karakoram Highway (KKH) in a serene, peaceful, ideal and pollution free environment. Groves of pine trees across the campus enhance the natural beauty and accentuate the harmonious calm of its location. Towards the northeast, the hills are covered with dense forest and in the background far beyond there are the peaks of the snow-covered mountains of Kaghan Valley, which add to its panoramic attraction. On the western, southern and the eastern sides, the rolling ranges of hills further enhance the beauty of the captivating scene of the campus.
Indoor sports facilities and Physical Fitness Centre (Gym) is also available on the Campus. Sport events such as cricket, football, volleyball and Tchoukball matches are very important part of student life at Hazara University.

I love my school because students here are serious about their studies. We hardly experience academic failure, and studying hard gives you the opportunity to graduate with good results and save yourself from trouble. What I don�t like about my school, however, is the discrimination between the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Education. There are some courses that both faculties take together, but if an Education student has a class in their department that clashes with one in the Faculty of Science, the schedule is never adjusted for us. We just have to give up one of the classes. Another problem we face is that during CBT exams, we sometimes have up to three exams scheduled in a single day.
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria is one of Nigeria�s most respected and historic institutions, which stands out for its strong academic reputation, diverse programs, and vibrant student community. ABU Zaria offers a truly rich academic environment, with experienced lecturers and a wide range of departments and faculties. The campus is spacious and culturally diverse, giving students opportunities to meet people from different parts of the country. Like many large federal universities in Nigeria, ABU Zaria faces challenges such as overcrowding, infrastructure that could use upgrades, and administrative delays. Yes, I would recommend ABU Zaria�particularly for students who value academic depth, diversity, and history.
I completed my BS English at the University of Hazara, Mansehra. I choose this program because I love reading, writing, and learning English literature. The teachers were supportive and explained the topics clearly. If students attend classes regularly, take notes, and study consistently, they can gain good knowledge and achieve a good GPA. Overall, I had a positive learning experience and would recommend this university to other students.
