History
The institution was established in August 1st, 2005 as a result of the transformation process of the former Superior School of Agronomy of Mossoro – ESAM, created in 1967.

Housing services
FERSA off ers housing, cafeteria, library and sports complex to its students.
Campus life
The courses and programs are off ered to over 10,000 students, in four diff erent campuses: Mossoro (head offi ce), Angicos, Caraubas and Pau dos Ferros.
Sports facilities
Sports are seen as important part of the university’s activities. UFERSA has a sports complex with multi-sport gymnasium, semi-Olympic swimming pool, soccer field and running track providing the following open sport disciplines:
Athletics, Basketball, Boxe, Capoeira, Football, Soccer, Futsal, Handball, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Kung fu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table tennis, Volleyball and Chess.
Every year UFERSA offers sport scholarships to students. This support is part of the Institutional Residence Program aimed at students with sporting abilities.
