History
The University of the Armed Forces ESPE has its origin when on June 16, 1922 the "School of Engineers Officers" was created, by Decree of the President of the Republic, Dr. José Luis Tamayo, published in the Official Register 521.

- Applied Sciences: oriented to the study, generation of knowledge and scientific and technological development for innovation, invention, development and improvement of techniques and tools.
- Human, Social and Administrative Sciences : aimed at the study and/or development of knowledge regarding the human being and its different manifestations and needs.
- Security and Defense : aimed at the study, generation of knowledge and scientific and technological development in the different areas of national security, defense and sovereignty, which allow defending and/or strengthening all those strategic assets for the defense of the country.

Accreditation
In 2010 it is evaluated by CONEA and the Institutional Accreditation Certificate is granted, recognizing it in the “A” category.
In 2016, the Council for Evaluation, Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Higher Education ( CEAACES ), through Resolution No. 388-CEAACES-SO-11-2016, determines to place it in Category "A".
In October 2020, ESPE received the Certificate of Accreditation from the president of the Council for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (CACES ) , Juan Manuel García, PhD.
