Pakistan is predominantly an agricultural country. However, since its independence in 1947, emphasis has been on irrigated agriculture, while the dryland / arid agriculture remained neglected. With rapid increase in population the irrigated areas failed to provide food requirements and it became imperative to find out ways to make use of the huge part of culturable land in the rainfed region.
The University includes a Faculty of Crop and Food Sciences, Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Forestry, Range Management and Wildlife, Directorate of Advance Studies and Research, the University Institute of Management Sciences (UIMS), University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) and Division of Continuing Education, Home Economics and Women Development.
The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) was established at the university in January 2011. Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization a central staff office reporting to the Vice Chancellor, is charged with administrative responsibility for all University research and related activities involving extramural sponsorship. In fulfilling its duties, the Office of Research serves as both a centre of advocacy for research and related activities, and facilitator of the research environment.

The purpose of Director of Student Affairs is to act as advocate for students, to consult and work with individual students and student groups. The Director also coordinates with other University offices to create a sense of community at the PMAS-AAUR. Assistance is available all the time during office hours and beyond that for some very urgent affairs.
The university provides accommodation facilities to students. For this purpose, two boys hostels (Iqbal Hall and Jinnah Hall) accommodating around 500 students.
There is a girl hostel (Fatima Jinnah Hall) which can provide accommodation to around 500 female students at the campus.
In any educational and research institution the Library department hold a key position being the major source of the inflow of knowledge. For this purpose, the library department incorporated 47917 books, textbooks, reference books, theses, periodicals and research journals etc. The library concerned is equipped with modern software , LMS (Library Management System) for Library automation.
The PMAS-AAUR maintains a small health unit with a qualified Doctor-in-Charge and supporting para-medical staff. The services provide first aid and preliminary diagnostic facilities with appropriate medication. Plans are underway to expand this service in such a way that a test laboratory and X-ray facilities are provided.
To provide initiative for talented students to develop their debating ,dramatic and creative faculties at various levels, it is proposed to launch different societies/clubs for the university students.

My study experience at this university has been very good and enjoyable. The teachers are supportive and helpful, and the learning environment is friendly. I improved my knowledge, communication skills, and confidence during my studies. I also liked the practical learning opportunities and teamwork activities. One thing that can be improved is providing more career guidance and internship opportunities for students. Overall, studying here was a valuable and memorable experience.
I am currently working on my theisis and I am hoping to graduate in the upcoming months. I am really grateful for all the facilities provided by my department and university for the completion of my research.
My experience at PMAS Arid Agriculture University has been positive. The teachers are supportive and knowledgeable, and I have learned many practical and technical skills during my studies. The university provides a good learning environment and opportunities to grow academically. I think more industry collaborations, modern lab equipment, and career development activities would make the experience even better. Overall, I am satisfied with my studies and grateful for what I have learned.
