Research

University College Cork (UCC) is an internationally competitive, research-led University that plays a key role in the development of Ireland’s knowledge-based economy. Our institutional research strategy focuses on creating and supporting world-leading clusters of researchers, building on the research strengths of the University, and is aligned with key Government strategies including the Strategy for Higher Education to 2030 (Hunt Report), and Ireland’s Strategy for Research and Development, Science and Technology, Innovation 2020.

Career

University College Cork (UCC) graduates are highly sought-after by employers: 93% of our graduates are in employment or further studies within nine months of graduating. We attribute this success to the approach to employability and employment that we demonstrate as a research-intensive university.

This UCC Institutional Employability and Employment Guide outlines our uniquely connected approach.

Employability is central to UCC's Academic Strategy 2018-2022, which seeks to renew and strengthen our educational offering through a Connected Curriculum.

Services

Student services

While studying at UCC it's also important to remember that there is a life beyond the lectures, seminars and labs. UCC has a great range of clubs, societies and supports available to students.

Housing services

UCC knows how important it is to find the right student housing. Campus Accommodation is university owned and managed apartment style living. Other Housing Options include purpose built student apartment complexes as well as rooms in a private house or apartment.  The Accommodation & Community Life office focuses on providing an up-to-date information service for students actively seeking student accommodation.

The Library consists of the Boole Library and branch Library Boston Scientific Health Sciences Library. We support the UCC community and bring together many sources of information not readily available elsewhere in Munster.

ICT services

The UCC students can conveniently access both Student IT Support and a wide range of online UCC Student Services. See below for direct links to Umail, Canvas, Office, and more.

Medical services

The Student Health Department provides services that target illnesses and problems that occur in the University Student population. It is not resourced to provide a GP service, but we provide a range of services that may not be as easily accessible in the community.

Student Life

Campus life

The UCC campus is one of the most beautiful in Europe - an idyllic campus on the banks of the river Lee, within walking distance of a historic city steeped in culture and tradition. Old limestone buildings blend seamlessly with stunning modern architecture against a backdrop of mature gardens.

The Mardyke Arena, UCC consists of a 25m swimming pool, international sized basketball court, dressing rooms, climbing wall and an external viewing gallery over a recently installed indoor and outdoor running track. It is a landmark university sports and leisure facility purpose built on the existing campus sports grounds.

Other facilities also include a swimming pool, multi-purpose sports hall, state of the art gym’s and associated admin, office, restaurant and support facilities.
