Olympic College (OC) is a public two-year community college located in Bremerton, Washington State, offering more than 70 different degrees and certificates in academic transfer and professional-technical programs, Intensive English and high school completion. History

Olympic College started as Olympic Junior College in Bremerton, WA, in 1946, serving veterans and locals after WWII, initially under the school district before becoming independent, expanding to include campuses in Poulsbo and Shelton, and growing from a few hundred students to thousands, offering certificates, associate degrees, and transfer programs.

Education

Two-year associate degrees include: Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), Associate in Applied Science (AAS). Concentrated studies in: Sciences (Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Math); Engineering, (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, Materials, Aerospace); Computer Science; Visual Arts, Art, Music, and Multi-Media; Accounting, Business Management, Economics; English, Literature and Social Sciences, and many more. Bachelor's degree programs: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Applied Science in Digital Filmmaking, Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Systems, and Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership and Technical Management.

Research

Students can find research projects through MESA (STEM), Co-op Ed/Internships for credit, career center tools (like O*NET), and by working with faculty on specific projects, often related to institutional data or community needs, with guidance from Institutional Research and IRB for ethical projects. 

Career

International students at Olympic College are eligible for on campus jobs to build their resumes. F-1 students are also eligible for off-campus jobs through Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT). The Olympic College Career Center provides guidance, resume and cover letter tools, career workshops, and job search resources, all designed to help you succeed in today’s competitive job market.

Student services

The main offices for student services in the Bremerton Campus can be found in Building 10 and Building 4. 

Housing services

The Residence Hall for students is located half a block from the Bremerton campus. It provides students with affordable, comfortable and safe housing and many enriching activities. Students in our Residence Hall become part of a tight-knit community that supports you throughout your college experience.

Library services

The Haselwood Library located on the Bremerton Campus of Olympic College serves the student body. There are also libraries at the Poulsbo Campus and the Shelton Campus of Olympic College. Olympic College Libraries are an integral part of the college experience, offering a wide variety of resources, including open computer labs, group study rooms, and quiet places for study and reflection. 

ICT services

The IT Help Desk supports the technology needs of Olympic College students. It provides comprehensive services that ensure you have the devices, connectivity and assistance you need to thrive in your classes. 

Medical services

All international students who carry valid I-20 issued by Olympic College must always carry medical insurance, including annual vacation quarter and for the duration of OPT. 

Campus life

The main campus is in Bremerton, Washington. There are smaller satellite campuses in Poulsbo and Shelton, Washington. On the main campus, all buildings are in the same area, and all buildings are within a walkable distance. In the Bremer Student Center (Building 10), you can find the food services (café), the bookstore, and the gymnasium. You can also find the Office of International Education & Study Abroad in Building 10.

Olympic College is a member of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC). The NWAC is the largest community college conference in the country with 36 members, spanning Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and British Columbia.

There is a spacious gymnasium, which houses indoor sports, such as basketball and volleyball. There is also a gym with exercise equipment, where students can work out for free.

Student clubs

There are many student associations and clubs that meet the diverse needs and interests of students. Students are introduced to the clubs and associations at the beginning of the semester, and they are encouraged to sign up.

Accreditation

Olympic College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges & Universities (NWCCU), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation and the Secretary of the United States Department of Education. As an accredited school, Olympic College is allowed to provide financial aid to qualifying students, thereby giving more people access to strong, valuable education programs. Inquiries regarding an institution's accredited status by the NWCCU should be directed to the administrative staff of the institution.
