The origins of the Sant'Anna School date back to the late eighteenth century, when in 1785 the Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine founded the "St. Anne Conservatory" in Pisa in order to attend to "the education of young women of civil condition."


The Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies developed advanced-education paths for University students, graduate students and professionals. To ensure an excellent educational path, admission to the courses is subject to a public competitive examination.

Library services

The Sant’Anna Library is the reference point for the teaching and learning needs of the School’s community.

The Library resources are mainly related to the branches of study of the Sant’Anna School. You can access about 76.700 books, 130 current printed periodicals, 68.000 e-journals, 6.300 e-books and 33 online databases.

ICT services

The Network and Services Area deals with issues related with the design, control and management of, mainly wired, communication networks and of the services that can be provisioned in such networks.
