Description

A PhD Studentship titled "Investigating the impact of subharmonics induced by inverter-based resources to enable a renewables-led future power grid". Applications are invited for a PhD studentship, to be undertaken at Imperial College London (Control and Power Research Group, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering). This studentship is funded by an EPSRC Industrial Doctoral Landscape Award (IDLA) and industrial partner, EDF Renewables UK&I. EDF Renewables UK&I is a major renewable energy company, with more than 14 GW of renewables projects in planning and development. 

Benefits

The scholarship offers 4 years tuition fees at the Home rate and a stipend of £22,780 plus £4,000 per annum industry top-up

Eligibility

  • Applicants should have a first-class Master's degree (or equivalent) in any field of engineering , physics or mathematics. The ideal candidate would also have a background in Electrical and Power Engineering, and Control Systems.
  • They should be highly motivated individuals with a keen interest in conducting interdisciplinary research.
  • Students must also meet the eligibility requirements for postgraduate studies at Imperial College London.
  • This studentship is funded by EPSRC and EDF at home student level.
  • Irish nationals living in Ireland or UK qualify as Home. Students who do not hold home status can apply and obtain the stipend and the home fees, but will have to make the difference up to the overseas fee level.
