History
In 1898, the 1851 Commission offered the land opposite the Imperial Institute, valued at £100,000 if government funding was made available for construction of the building. The architect for the Royal College of Science building was Sir Aston Webb and was completed in 1906.

- Private accommodation- The Student Hub is also here to help Imperial students find accommodation in the private sector.
- Beit Hall- located within the Beit Quadrangle, is one of Imperial’s most historic buildings.
- Eastside Halls- provide self-catered accommodation for 454 undergraduate students. All the rooms, including single and twin study bedrooms, are en-suite within this hall.
- Parsons House- offers self-catered single study accommodation for 40 undergraduate students within cluster flats.
- Pembridge Hall- offers self-catered study accommodation for 94 undergraduate students.

Medical services
Any member of staff (and their families) living within the Imperial Health Centre’s postcode areas can be registered under the National Health Service at Imperial College Health Centre, South Kensington Campus. The College has an Occupational Health Service, which provides a range of work related health services, including health and safety at work, fitness assessments, counselling.

Sport Imperial manages a variety of different sports facilities from our new flagship sports centre, Ethos, at the South Kensington campus, to our first-rate Boathouse on London's Putney Embankment, to high quality sports grounds.
Student clubs
The Union facilitates over 250 student Clubs & Societies with more than 10,000 members, were sure to have something on offer that you want to do. Of course, if we dont have the right club, then well help you start one. As a member of the Union you may join any Union club or society. There are no restrictions on who may join a particular club or how many clubs you may join (though you are likely to have to pay a membership fee for most clubs).All clubs are run by elected students who represent the members interests. You will have a great say in the direction the club takes, the activity it takes part in and your level of involvement.
The BCS and IET are licensed by the Engineering Council to award Chartered Engineer status (CEng) and more recently by the Science Council to award Chartered Scientist status (CSci).
To do this they undertake a programme of visits to Universities to review their courses and to see if they provide an appropriate foundation for new entrants to the IT profession.
