Description

This bursary has been given gladly in loving memory of a dear mother, grandmother and graduate in History from King’s College Durham (now Newcastle University). Devoted to education, Mary Spencer was a dedicated, creative teacher of many subjects, including history, for almost fifty years. As the wife of an RAF Officer she taught throughout the UK, Zimbabwe, Cyprus and Libya.

Eligibility

A scholarship is available for those in Year 3 of a BA History undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University. 

To be eligible for this award you must:

  • be a student in the third year of the BA History undergraduate degree programme at Newcastle University;
  • have achieved an overall mark of 65 or over in your second year of study;
  • have been in part-time employment during term time for the equivalent of one full semester (12 weeks) of your degree programme so far.
