The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is the perfect location for the UK’s top University for Sport to establish a second campus. Loughborough University London sits amongst some of the world’s most iconic sporting venues, which continue to host highly prestigious global sports events, such as the Rugby World Cup, UCI Track Cycling World Championships and the LEN European Aquatics Championships.

The Institute for Sport Business currently supervises a wide range of projects, which correspond with the Institute’s three key areas of research: Leadership and Change, Innovation and Enterprise, and Social Responsibility.

Students who undertake a PhD programme with the Institute for Sport Business will engage with projects across the globe and become part of a talented research community shared between both campuses.

  • Investigating the role of workplace emotion for strengthening employee commitment in sport organisations

Innovation and Enterprise
  • Efficacy of Rugby Sevens High Performance Programmes (funded by World Rugby)
  • Inter-institute study on the use of 3D multi-cast technology for sports casts
  • The relationship between leadership, identification, and employee well-being in professional sport environments
  • Developing an economic estimate of the broader social benefits associated with club-based organised community sport in Australia

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Upper Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Upper Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

Our entry requirements are usually based on a 2:1 undergraduate degree (or the overseas equivalent) in a related subject area.
