The training is conducted by a high level study and research in a subject included in the wide range of areas covered by mechanical engineering. As a result the student should be able to carry out important research in the area of his PhD, autonomous but also at the same time several Integrator competences, promote the development of knowledge both in academic and scientific environment, as well as  in business environment.

Education and formation of Industrial Management and Mechanical Engineering professionals, of international level, sustained in Research and Development of recognized excellence at a global level and in a practice of elevated quality extension, contemplating the scientific, technique, ethics and cultural slopes.

The Mechanical Engineering Department is responsible for the degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and Management. It also has other degrees from FEUP intervention, especially in the degree in Computer Engineering and Computer Science. Organizes Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is associated with the organization or participates in more than ten, including Masters Courses in Biomedical Engineering, Multimedia, Enterprise Technology.

  • Enrolment will be subject to the presentation of the corresponding certificate within the deadlines indicated;
  • UP students are only required to scan and attach the information included in their “Percurso Académico” (Academic Pathway);

PhD Scholarships support graduates who comply with the requirements to apply for PhD studies and who wish to carry out research towards this degree. Scholarships have a maximum duration of four years, and must run for a minimum of three consecutive months. The work programme may be carried out at Portuguese or foreign institutions.
