Description

Summer courses are bilateral courses in which Austrian students study the language of the host country while students of the host country learn German, as well as attend lectures on cultural topics. In some summer courses, translation may be a focus. Students from both countries spend their leisure time together.

 

Participation in a summer course is limited to one course per language and year.

 

Goals:

promotion of the goal of the EU, according to which at least one other foreign language should be learned in addition to English, in order to maintain linguistic diversity in society

support the advancement of junior academics

promote mutual understanding

Benefits

The course costs will be paid by the grant, covering the following:

instruction;

3 meals a day;

accommodation;

culture-and-society-of-the-country-programme and culture programme - e. g. trips and presentations that will be held within the course.

Austrian participants are responsible for their own travel, repatriation and health insurance.

Non-Austrian participants are required to show proof of comprehensive health and casualty insurance coverage.

Applicants from EU/EEA countries: within the European Union, costs for medical care are covered by the national insurance carrier in your home country. Please have your European health insurance card with you at all times. Costs for international travel insurance (including repatriation insurance) may vary.

Travel costs for these summer courses may also vary.

A registration fee is required to sign up for the course. This can be refunded in the event of a cancellation.

Eligibility

  • Applicants who are actively pursuing degrees or research (at least 8 ECTS in the previous semester) at Austrian public universities, universities of applied sciences or private universities are eligible to apply for this grant.
  • Basic knowledge of the foreign language is required, equivalent to 4 semester periods per week of successfully completed study.
  • Grant recipients are required to be present at the place of study to pursue their studies or research project.
  • Grant recipients are not allowed to engage in paid employment beside their academic duties.
