- Background in arts and humanities, especially history, archaeology, or classical philology, preferred
- Master’s degree in a field related to the programme’s research lines required
- Good understanding of concepts and research methods in a chosen area
- Interest in research and ability to develop a doctoral thesis aligned with programme lines
- English proficiency at B1 level or higher recommended
- Academic record and relevance of previous studies evaluated (70%)
- Research experience (publications, conferences) assessed (10%)
- Research stays abroad evaluated (10%)
- Personal interview may be required
- Up to 30 ECTS of supplementary training may be required in the first year
