The Environment and Society programme is offered at the Pablo de Olavide University. Each PhD student will submit a research plan to the Academic Committee of the programme during the first academic year after enrolment. This research plan must be approved by the thesis supervisor and, where appropriate, the tutor.



The Environment and Society programme at Pablo de Olavide University addresses the different aspects of Environmental Sciences, both from the viewpoint of Experimental Sciences and the perspective of the Social Sciences.

  • Agroecology, Environmental History, Ecological Economics and Political Ecology
  • Environmental and Ecological Anthropology
  • Biodiversity and Conservation Biology
  • Integrated studies in Earth Sciences: climate variability and climate change, tectonics, relief and hydrology
  • Territory management and environment. Natural hazards. Coastal and marine environment
  • Molecular Simulation of Complex Systems for Environmental Applications
