Overview
Presentation
The History and Humanities - Europe, America, Arts and Language programme at Pablo de Olavide University has a significant theoretical and methodological component and offers students the necessary instrumental and practical knowledge both for carrying out research work and for teaching history. The training objectives consist of analysing different facets of the educational process of European culture, and its classical, Muslim and Hebrew roots and its Atlantic diffusion, with particular focus on the role played in this dissemination by Mediterranean cultures from the Late Middle Ages until today.
The singularity of this doctoral programme in the Spanish university scene is that it is unique in its comprehensive treatment of the history of art and heritage in its impact in America. This consists of work on the criteria and concepts related to diverse modalities of heritage, and the policies pursued in Andalusia, Spain, Europe and Latin America for the recovery and enhancement of the historical heritage.
The doctoral programme offers an alternative postgraduate course that is unique in Western Andalusia, as it is the only programme focusing on enriching the specific and transversal competencies required by the market for future translators, interpreters and intercultural mediators in professional circles.
