Overview
Presentation
- Research in neuroscience is very significant in terms of quality and scale within Spanish biomedical research.
- All participating universities have a long tradition of specialised training in neurosciences and have important research groups with international projection, with lines of research representative of all fields of neuroscience.
- The scientific interest of the Neuroscience programme at Pablo de Olavide University, therefore, lies primarily in the coverage of almost all areas of specialisation in a transversally-designed programme, which is essential for training truly competitive new scientists in the field of neuroscience.
Programme Structure
Research areas:
- Cellular and molecular bases of the neuronal plasticity
- Molecular and cellular mechanisms related to long-term neuronal plasticity
- Early detection of Alzheimer's disease based on the combination of different markers
- Physiology of synaptic transmission
- Genesis and control of motor commands with particular emphasis on extraocular and facial motor systems
- Brain mechanisms underlying memory processes and their deterioration
- Phenotyping procedures of mice and rats using electrophysiological recording techniques (EEG)
- Learning and memory processes in "Drosophila melanogaster"
- Neuronal processes that underlie learning and memory in awake animals. Neuronal substrates of appetitive and exploratory behaviour
- Oscillatory properties of the cerebral cortex
- Functional relations between the physiology of sleep and memory consolidation processes
