Overview
PhD in Multilingualism (Linguistics)
The Doctoral School of Multilingualism offers an in-depth exploration of the coexistence of multiple languages at the individual, societal, and educational levels. Students can choose from three specialized subprograms:
Individual Multilingualism – exploring how people process, acquire, and use multiple languages.
Multilingualism in Society – examining language policies, linguistic rights, and communication across diverse communities.
Multilingualism through Instruction – focusing on teaching multilingual individuals and optimizing language learning.
Through this program, you will gain knowledge of:
How languages are processed in the brain and acquired over time.
Communication patterns among bi- and multilingual individuals.
The role of intercultural communication in personal, educational, and societal contexts.
Linguistic research methods for studying language use, learning, and policy.
The co-existence of several languages within individuals, communities, and educational settings.
We welcome applicants who are passionate about researching multilingual individuals and communities, as well as language teachers committed to improving teaching and learning practices through rigorous academic research. This program combines theoretical insights with practical applications, preparing graduates to contribute meaningfully to the fields of linguistics, education, and language policy.
