Overview
The newly created Healthcare Simulation programme from Masaryk University combines many medical specializations in modern methods of medical education. Interdisciplinary cooperation is essential for simulation medicine not only in the most well-known, so-called high-fidelity simulations but also in the sharing of theoretical, practical, and scientific knowledge among academics, not only across the Czech Republic but also worldwide.
The collaboration of academics across many disciplines benefits from the development of knowledge and brings wide scientific potential in unexplored areas of simulation medicine. A key characteristic of the Healthcare Simulation medicine programme is the support of such interdisciplinary cooperation.
The programme Healthcare Simulation is intended for graduates of master's degree programmes of the Faculty of Medicine, but also for graduates of technical (eg biomedical technologies, bioinformatics, information technology) or pedagogical fields. The programme will thus lead to interdisciplinary cooperation of all partners in the fields of simulation medicine: medical disciplines, pedagogical disciplines, and technological development.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
A graduate of the doctoral study programme Healthcare Simulation will be able to continue his academic career as an assistant professor at any simulation center.
According to his / her focus, he/she will be able to innovate the content of subjects within bachelor's or master's study programmes of medical faculties, to innovate or initiate the creation of subjects related to the teaching of simulation medicine at pedagogical or technically oriented faculties.
Due to the international overlap of the Simulation Center of the Faculty of Medicine, it is probable to work in foreign research groups.
Programme Structure
The team of the Institute of Simulation Medicine covers the following research topics, in which doctoral students are also trained:- Non-technical skills in medical simulations
- Low-fidelity simulation methods
- High-fidelity simulation methods
- Technological development of simulation environment
- Possibilities of involvement of non-medical medical staff in simulations
- Management of critical conditions in individual medical disciplines
- Debriefing in medical simulations
- Methodology of individual modalities of simulation medicine
- Innovation of teaching methods
