Overview
The understanding of the larger context of proper diagnosis, therapy, and research, is especially encouraged in students. The student will learn how to gather scientific data and process it in order to decide on the correct specific method of therapy and prevention of specific diseases and predispositions. During their studies, the students will acquire the ability to critically analyse the applied methods and to process, interpret, and present scientific data.
The students should be able to invent further developments for the discipline area relevant to the specific focus of their doctoral thesis. The primary objective of the Paediatrics degree programme from Masaryk University is to prepare the finest experts in specific scientific fields, which are expanded upon under the Paediatrics discipline and all of its components.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates
The graduates of the DDP can work as e.g. :- scientific researchers at clinical and pre-clinical facilities
- lecturer - academic staff at universities
- head of clinical facilities
- managers outside of the academic/clinical sector - e.g. regulation authorities, bursars, medical care managers, or the pharmaceutical industry in general
During their studies, the doctoral students will apply for professional internship scholarship offers relevant to their doctoral thesis topic, and submit applications for grants, with the support of their lecturer.
According to their availability and their specific study plans, the doctoral students participate in the lecturing of pre-graduate students at the Faculty of Medicine MU to a limited extent.
The doctoral doctoral thesis for the Paediatrics discipline must fulfil every international scientific article requirement. The introduction to the thesis states the current state of development of the given research issue. The presented results are based on statistical procedures and the findings are precisely defined. In the qualification thesis, the discussion must be performed in an informed and critical manner through the application of recent international literary sources. The formal requirements adhere to the general recommendations of the FM MU.Programme Structure
After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:- understand theories, concepts, and methods, which represent the current trends in the discipline at the international level;
- understand very well to the aspects of the ethics of scientific work in general, and specific ethical issues related to their discipline
- professionally lead pre-graduate and post-graduate students in their discipline
- independently design and conduct research projects throughout all of their phases, draw general conclusions and eventually use them to apply focused intervention
- interpret their results at international conferences, communicate with other professionals of their discipline in English or other international languages, and critically evaluate their methods, results, and findings
- compose scientific articles and publish them in international journals with measured impact factors
