Overview
Research topic description
This Developing conductive polymer nanocomposites for resilient, self-sensing 3D printing (Materials Engineering) research focuses on creating electrically conductive polymer nanocomposites for additive manufacturing. By combining silver and carbon black nanoparticles, the composite achieves a conductivity of 116.1 kS/m while preserving mechanical strength, printability, and cost-effectiveness. These materials enable the automated production of structural components with integrated conductive pathways, reducing manual wiring and improving the functionality of drones and lightweight building structures. The project integrates materials science, conductivity testing, structural mechanics, aging studies, and process modeling to develop scalable technologies applicable to industry and defense, supported by VILNIUS TECH ’s advanced facilities.
The selected candidate will work on the PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Viktor Gribniak. The successful applicant will have to attend scientific conferences, meetings, and internships at other universities.
