- Academic record and relevance of previous studies in art history or musicology evaluated (35%), with preference for specialised postgraduate degrees
- Research experience (conferences, publications, research projects) assessed (25%)

- Research grants or scholarships considered (10%)
- Academic stays abroad evaluated (10%)
- Personal interview may be conducted if required
- Up to 30 ECTS of supplementary training may be required, based on whether the research field is musicology or art history
