Overview
This Aquaculture programme offered by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona focuses on the production of aquatic organisms, including fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and algae, addressing global demand for high-quality food resources. It supports research on sustainability, environmental conditions, and production systems in marine and continental aquatic environments.
Key Facts
The academic setting provides access to internationally recognised research groups and strong collaboration with global programmes, industry partners, and multidisciplinary teams. Candidates explore topics such as organism welfare, adaptation to diverse environments, and the development of products derived from aquatic species with applications in health and therapeutic fields.
Each candidate is assigned a thesis director responsible for ensuring originality, feasibility, and alignment with established research lines while guiding the development of the project. Supervision includes support in research design, regular progress monitoring, access to institutional resources, and preparation for thesis completion, with opportunities for external or shared guidance where academically justified.
