About the programme
The MRC DTP PhD Programme at The University of Manchester offers interdisciplinary PhD training within the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health and the Faculty of Science and Engineering. We have close links with NHS Trusts and industry.
Training within each of our research themes embeds cross-cutting skills alongside those central to your research. This includes hands-on in vivo skills training in areas such as surgical and pre-clinical skills, complex experiments, novel imaging technologies and other innovative techniques.
Programme Structure
Our MRC DTP projects focus on three overarching themes, and each project must cover at least two of these:- Discovery of Disease Mechanisms

General requirements
- We require applicants to hold, or be about to obtain a First or an Upper Second class Honours degree, or the equivalent qualification gained outside the UK, in a related subject area for entry to this funded PhD programme.
- As competition is fierce, many of our applicants also hold a Masters-level qualification.
