Overview
About the programme
The Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery programme at The University of Manchester provides key transferable skills and equips our postgraduate researchers with the tools to progress beyond their research degree into influential positions within academia, industry and consultancy.
The emphasis is on enhancing skills critical to developing early-stage researchers and professionals, whether they relate to effective communication, disseminating research findings and project management skills.
Programme Structure
Research:
- The Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery research group undertakes health services research that offers best evidence for improving surgical practice, particularly in the areas of postoperative pain and oral implantology, but also in some other areas.
- Clinical pain studies developed from systematic reviews have investigated intraoperative local analgesia and postoperative systemic analgesic strategies.
- These studies are crucial in providing the evidence for changing clinical practice and improving the pain management for patients after surgery.
