The Entrepreneurship, Management and Organisation programme of Hanken School of Economics focuses on the problems, challenges and opportunities of small and medium-sized firms.

We are focused on issues related to the functioning of boards of directors, especially in family-owned companies. Research is also conducted on financing, innovation, internationalisation and business networks. 

We have all in all five full-time positions in Helsinki and Vaasa. Researchers from all over the world present papers and projects in research seminars every second week.

The Entrepreneurship, Management and Organisation programme of Hanken School of Economics  has a good academic network in Finland and the Nordic countries as well as to the business world. 

Articles are published in journals such as Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development and Journal of Small Business Management Venture Capital. 1-2 PhD students graduate every year in entrepreneurship and management.

Programme Structure

  • Studies in Entrepreneurship, Management and Organisation are intended to give the students knowledge about the development of young and growing companies as well as new business development within larger companies. Central themes are entrepreneurship, innovations, internalization, growth and intrapreneurship.

  • A research-based Master's degree with good grades from a recognised university constitutes the basis for admission to doctoral studies. The Master's degree has to include a comprehensive research based thesis. If you will graduate after the application deadline, please read the information on provisional documentation under Application Documents.
