Overview
About the programme
The subject Working Life Science is a social science discipline (traditionally it had been a natural science/engineering discipline focused on ergonomics). It is built on the study of working people and forms of work. The word and is significant: it refers to our ambition to consider the relation between actor and structure in the workplace, something which is also emphasised in our social science direction.
In our PhD programme at Karlstad University, we offer joint courses and seminars in collaboration with Working Life Science departments at universities and university colleges in especially Western Sweden. Our international contacts also enable students to follow part of the programme abroad.
