Overview
About the programme
Landscapes and living conditions are studied from both historical and future-oriented perspectives, and research areas also include questions of identity, especially regarding inclusion and exclusion in different contexts. Local and regional conditions are investigated in the light of various perspectives on globalisation, and increased mobility is also a focal area.
Several doctoral candidates and supervisors in Human Geography at Karlstad University participate in the multidisciplinary research school affiliated with the Centre for Regional Studies. Our empirical studies are both based on Värmland and on other regions in Sweden and abroad.
