Overview
About the programme
Chemistry of Interfaces at Luleå University of Technology includes experimental and theoretical aspects of heterogeneous processes between liquids, solids and gases, and development on new surface-sensitive measurement techniques for such studies at the molecular level.
We develop new types of ionic liquids that are revolutionary, environmentally friendly and effective electrolytes and lubricants with applications in batteries, supercapacitors and in the entire tribology area
We study and develop environmentally friendly functional collectors for the separation of minerals and environmentally friendly flame retardants from naturally occurring substances.
Programme Structure
Research projects include:
- Inhibit fire with molecules from nature – application on textiles
- Biomass derived fluorine-free ionic liquids-based electrolytes enabling sustainable batteries
- Enabling safer batteries via fluorine-free electrolytes
- Biomass derived halogen-free electrolytes for supercapacitors
- Ionic liquids based electrolytes stability at electrode surfaces
- Design of selective collectors for the separation of valuable minerals from mining waste
