As researchers in the School of Education at the University of Sheffield, we work in partnership with local, national and international communities. Our research approaches are diverse, inclusive and critical; we value research that both challenges and empowers.
Structure
Producing a PhD thesis can be grouped into three phases:
- Phase one involves becoming clearer about your title and research topic. You will refine and focus your research question.
- Phase two involves data collection, early data analysis, and critical reading and writing around the literature.
- The final phase includes finishing your data analysis and presenting at conferences when you're ready.

- You will need a first degree which is equivalent to a UK classification of an upper second, or better, and a masters degree which is equivalent to a UK mark of 65% or above. Candidates with other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.
