About the proggramme
Migrations, Diasporas, Transnational Communities at The Open University UK is engaged in a number of lived-experience, policy-, welfare- and criminologically related research projects.
Research students connected to this area are encouraged to participate in the supportive and collegial research culture in the department and the School of Social Sciences and Global Studies. Staff in this research area are members of the Harm and Evidence Research Collaborative and Innovation, Knowledge and Development.
Programme Structure
Substantive areas of interest include:- transnational family and kinship networks
- transnational migrant networks, advocacy, activism
- transnational institutional and professional communities
- migration in relation to care, health and welfare provision
- migration of young people for work, education or training
- refugees services, advocacy and activism
- criminalisation processes in relation to migrants and refugees (adults and children)
- borders and surveillance
