About the program
A PhD in Biosciences, Biotechnology, and Computational and Theoretical Sciences is the highest research degree-level qualification. A supervisor/supervisors will help you to navigate your topic, offering expert advice on the direction of your research at the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
Completing a PhD can give you a great sense of personal achievement. You'll develop high-level transferable skills and contribute to the development of knowledge in your chosen field. Our research students present papers and posters at conferences in Malaysia as well as around the world. Many have the satisfaction of seeing their work published in scientific journals.

This program offers a PhD in the following areas:- Biosciences
- Biotechnology
- Computational and Theoretical Sciences
At the moment, all PhD projects related to marine, plant and chemistry will be offered under the biosciences and biotechnology PhD programmes while for physics, it will be offered under the computational and theoretical science programme.

General requirements
- A relevant Bachelor's degree and Master's degree or equivalent from IIUM or any other accredited institution of higher learning
- A suitable Research Proposal is required for Ph.D. applicants
Required documents:
- 1 passport sized photograph
- A copy of your passport (detail page)
- Academic certificates and transcripts (verified by Institution or Ministry)
- Research Proposal (compulsory for those applying for PhD programmes by research only mode)
- Financial statement or scholarship letter (if any)
