Overview
Graduates of the Physics of Condensed Matter programme from Pavol Jozef Safárik University in Kosice have in-depth knowledge of the physics of condensed matter with an emphasis on their thermodynamic and transport properties, which will enable them to successfully manage the research project in which they are actively involved.
Key Facts
The acquired knowledge is supplemented by an overview of current problems in the field of Physics of condensed matter. The basic profile of the graduate is determined by the subjects Introduction to Condensed Matter Physics and the series of seminars from Condensed matter physics. The choice of other subjects is determined by the thematic focus of the dissertation, the development of which decisively shapes the professional profile of the graduate.
- In addition to physical knowledge, students can use modern methods of experimental study of solids, especially in extreme experimental conditions such as very low temperatures, high magnetic fields, external pressure. They can work with modern commercial devices capable of creating these conditions, but they are sufficiently experimentally erudite to be able to introduce or modify an experimental method for investigating primarily thermodynamic, magnetic and transport properties of selected systems.
- They have acquired a deep theoretical foundation on quantum mechanical processes taking place in solids, which enables them to understand current open scientific problems in condensed matter physics and actively participate in their solution
