Overview
The graduate of the Applied Mechanics programme from The Technical University of Kosice (TUKE) can analyze the physical processes taking place in machines and devices and evaluate their behavior using both theoretical and experimental methods. He can apply modern computer procedures to simulate the behavior of a product or process.
Learning Objectives
Graduates of the third degree of the Applied Mechanics study programme in the field of Mechanical Engineering:
- they can analyze, optimize, design, construct and maintain large-scale technical solutions covering a wide field of mechanical engineering,
- carry out research with a high degree of creativity and independence,
- have in-depth knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering, enabling them to manage teams of workers in this field, independently lead even large projects and take responsibility for complex solutions,
- are capable of a scientific approach to solved problems. They have experience in the formulation of hypotheses, experimental design, verification of hypotheses and analysis of obtained data,
- apply modern methods and techniques of design and development in the field of mechanical engineering,
- they find and present their own solutions to problems in research, development, design, construction and production in engineering and in the use of engineering products,
- creatively apply the acquired knowledge in practice,
- they critically analyze and apply the entire range of concepts, principles and practices of the field in the context of freely defined problems, while demonstrating effective decision-making in connection with the selection and use of methods, technologies and means,
- they know how to introduce complex technical solutions, use modern methods and means in solving problems,
- demonstrate a thorough understanding of the supporting areas of knowledge and engineering systems engineering theory, together with the ability to make critical judgments in the entire spectrum of problems related to these systems,
- they can analyze and understand construction, technological and other processes in mechanical engineering with the possibility of application to individual branches of mechanical engineering,
- they know how to specify, design, implement and maintain large-scale integrated solutions involving engineering production for various types of application,
- they know how to manage the processes of technology changes from the point of view of technology development, adaptation and implementation of progressive engineering activities,
- they know how to work in projects that include problem identification, analysis, design and implementation of large-scale solutions of engineering systems and activities together with testing and adequate documentation, with the application of individual aspects of quality as well as their impact on the environment,
- are able to work effectively as an individual, as a member and as a team leader,
- they maintain contact with modern developments in their discipline,
- follow appropriate practices in accordance with the professional, legal and ethical framework of the discipline.
