The Economics and Management course from the Vietnam National University Hanoi is a specialized program that closely links Doctorates in Economics, Economic Management, and Business Administration, but allows for deeper study of organizations.

Group 1: Leaders and managers at state management agencies at all levels, ministries, and sectors: possessing the capacity to plan and implement economic policies at both macro and micro levels in practice within the context of globalization and economic integration. Evaluating and critically reviewing state economic and management policies, as well as programs, strategies, plans, and economic development plans of public and private economic organizations, contributing to more effective management by state agencies.
Group 2: Senior management staff in organizations and businesses: Possess sufficient professional competence, skills, and independent thinking abilities; have the skills to implement management tools in practice; and, based on management practice, work as leaders in public and private economic sectors in the context of international integration.
Group 3: Senior policy implementation consultants for businesses and management agencies: Possessing skills in policy planning and analysis on issues related to economics, international trade; international finance; foreign direct and indirect investment at ministries, departments, localities, government management agencies as well as international organizations such as the UN, ADB, IMF, WB, iNGOs… Based on this, they advise businesses and state management agencies to properly implement the state's economic policies and guidelines.
Group 4: Researchers and lecturers in Economic Management: Capable of conducting research projects/programs on economics, management, and business in research institutes; capable of teaching economics, management, and business at undergraduate and postgraduate levels at universities and training institutions in the fields of economics, management, and business.
Group 5: Self-employment in establishing specialized centers, research institutes, and labs: Possessing the autonomy and creativity to establish or co-establish specialized centers, research institutes, and labs in the fields of economics and management, becoming independent leaders and consultants for domestic and international businesses and economic organizations.

Applicants who are foreign citizens and apply for a doctoral program taught in Vietnamese must have a Vietnamese language certificate at least at level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, or have graduated from a university (or equivalent qualification) where the program is taught in Vietnamese, and must meet the English language requirements as stipulated by the program (except for native speakers of the language used in the doctoral program).
