Overview

The student of the Internal Diseases research degree from Comenius University Bratislava should theoretically and practically master all basic propaedeutic examination methods and be able to use them in a suitable way in making a diagnosis. Theoretically, it must master the possibilities of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of basic disease units in all fields of internal medicine (cardiology, angiology, pneumology, gastroenterology, nephrology, haematology, rheumatology, endocrinology, diabetology, lipidology, infectology, clinical toxicology and).

The student knows the specificity of disease manifestations in old age. He can differentiate emergencies and provide first aid. The student masters the principles of resuscitation. He acquired practical skills and abilities for basic examination methods and treatment procedures.

Career opportunities

Graduates of the doctoral study programme are currently in demand mainly in the hospitals (departments of Internal Medicine and its specialised fields). Graduates of doctoral studies can apply within the Ministry of Education as university teachers or researchers at universities with a focus on medicine, health sciences, and public health.
