Overview
The Sustainability Science (REASOn - Resources, Food and Society) course at Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon focuses on the dimension of food production and consumption as a central vector of the challenges facing sustainability, recognizing that understanding food systems and acting on the global food system are fundamental instruments for sustainable development and require research on the interactions between ecology and socioeconomics.
Objectives
The aim of this PhD programme is to promote advanced training of excellence and international competitiveness, integrating solid and up-to-date knowledge across the board for sustainable development.
The Study Cycle is geared towards equipping human resources with the tools to understand and respond to current and future challenges to sustainability, resulting from an understanding of the interactions between global, natural, social, and human systems, in order to develop new solutions and innovative policies.
